The Health Benefits of our Main Ingredient - Rooibos

The Rooibos, or Redbush, plant has to date not really gained mainstream recognition as a natural and safe treatment for eczema and other skin ailments. It is not even as well known as a beverage as it should be. This is very unfortunate as it has some fantastic health properties that are quite unique.

Our Rooibos Eczema Cream is an effective eczema treatment, inflammation and itchiness on any skin type. The reason it is so effective is all due to the Rooibos plant.

The word "Rooibos" is an Afrikaans word meaning, literally translated, "Redbush". The plant is indigenous to South Africa and this is the country of my birth. All of my family's friends and relatives gave their babies the Rooibos tea to drink to reduce colic and other stomach complaints. It has been used in this way for generations.

Low in tannins, caffeine free and chock-full of antioxidants, Rooibos is a brilliant solution to all sorts of skin complaints including eczema, rashes and insect stings.

When sipped as a tea, it is also great for your stomach and general health, reducing insomnia, high blood pressure, allergies and premature ageing. The list goes on and on for this fantastic herb.

Rooibos contains many minerals as well so has a high nutritional value, as well the magical phenolic compounds (polyphenols), which are well known as anti-inflammatory, antiviral and for having antimutagenic qualities.

As a word of caution, if you are interested in purchasing our Rooibos cream for anyone with eczema, we would recommend that you select the "SLS-free Aqueous" base, as SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) has been shown to possibly irritate serious atopic eczema in some patients.
